March was a full month filled with highs and lows. The first half of the month was focused on execution. It’s a technically heavy stretch and I find myself really enjoying the detail-oriented work–building out structures, validating numbers and thinking through how to make systems functional for users. There were many small and meaningful wins: stronger presence in meetings and decision-making and increased confidence in how I contribute across teams and clients.
On Palm Sunday, things shifted: my friend passed away after a long and difficult battle with cancer. The days since have been marked with a mix of grief and reflection. We lived together for several months and I find myself thinking of her when walking around the apartment–our shared conversations, discovering our new favorite sleuth and grieving together over disease progression. What a way to enter Holy Week. It’s the time of year when we reflect on suffering and death. The world we live in groans with pains and the bondage of decay. I was able to see her a few hours before her passing and prayed a farewell blessing over her: For you are already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for your departure is near. You have fought the good fight. You have finished the race, You have kept the faith. We hold onto the promise of the resurrected body free from pain and disease.
